Request account or data deletion
You can request deletion of your ELD Factory account and associated personal information from General Software Company LLC without reinstalling an app.
Email an account deletion request
If the button does not open your email application, send a message to accounts@generaleld.com with the subject Delete my ELD Factory account. Send it from the email address associated with your account when possible. Tell us whether you want your entire account deleted or have a request about particular information. You may name the relevant organization to help us locate the request.
If you no longer control the account email, tell us that in your message so we can discuss an appropriate verification method. Do not send a password, sign-in code, driver's license image, or other sensitive document in the initial request.
How a request is handled
- We review the request and verify authority. We may ask for proportionate confirmation that you control the account or may act for the person concerned. We do not disclose records to an unverified requester.
- We identify the account and affected records. A personal account, organization workspace, and carrier record are different things. If another organization controls relevant records, we identify the appropriate route and coordinate as needed.
- We explain the outcome and timing. We tell you what will be deleted, what must be retained and why, any additional steps genuinely needed, and the expected processing time. If a request is refused in whole or in part, we explain the reason and applicable review or appeal route.
- We confirm completion. Approved account deletion removes account access and addresses associated personal information, subject to the disclosed retention exceptions. We provide confirmation when the request is completed.
This is a manually reviewed request process, not an instant automated erasure tool. Signing out, uninstalling the app, or temporarily disabling access is not the same as deleting an account.
Carrier records and information that may remain
A personal-account request does not authorize someone to erase another person's information or an organization's records. Driver duty records, corrections, certification history, and their attribution may be subject to carrier retention obligations even after a driver leaves a company or closes an ELD Factory sign-in account.
49 CFR 395.22(i)(1) states:
A motor carrier must retain for 6 months a back-up copy of the ELD records on a device separate from that on which the original data are stored.
See 49 CFR 395.22(i). Required records cannot be erased during the applicable retention period merely because an account is closed. Other specific legal obligations may also apply to a particular record.
Information may also be retained where necessary for a documented security investigation, fraud prevention, resolution of an existing dispute, or another applicable legal duty. These are specific exceptions, not a rule that every record is kept forever. We explain relevant retained categories, purposes, and periods or criteria when addressing your request. Retained information remains subject to access restrictions and is not treated as permission to continue an unrelated use.
Organizations, billing, and device copies
If you administer an organization and also want its workspace or commercial agreement closed, state that separately. We will verify authority and identify the effect on other authorized users, records, and any obligations in the applicable agreement. You can still request review of your personal account without claiming ownership of the whole organization.
Deleting an account does not by itself resolve an invoice or cancel an independently billed agreement. If you want cancellation reviewed as well, include that request. Any applicable third-party store subscription must be managed through the party that bills it; we will explain relevant steps if they apply.
Local demonstration data can be cleared separately through your browser's site-storage controls. Clearing browser data or uninstalling an app does not send an account-deletion request. Conversely, a deletion request does not remove files you or an authorized organization previously downloaded or sent to another service.
Questions or review of a decision
For help, email accounts@generaleld.com. To ask for review of a decision, reply to it or use the subject "Privacy appeal" and identify your request. Where applicable, we will explain the available statutory appeal or regulator contact route.
